DreamWorks' First Theme Park

DreamWorks is going to be building its first theme park ... in the Las Vegas of the Middle East, Dubai:

Dubai, UAE - 19 January, 2008: Tatweer, a member of Dubai Holding, today announced it has formed a strategic alliance with US-based DreamWorks Animation SKG, Inc. (NYSE: DWA) to develop a diverse portfolio of tourism and leisure projects in DubailandTM, the world’s most ambitious tourism, leisure and entertainment destination.

A highlight of the alliance will be the creation of the world’s first DreamWorks Animation branded theme park in Dubai. The outlay at the 5 million sq feet theme park project is a multi-billion AED investment.

Jeffrey Katzenberg, CEO of DreamWorks Animation, said: “We are thrilled to bring the first DreamWorks Animation dedicated theme park to Dubai through our alliance with Tatweer for DubailandTM. This relationship will allow us to create an exciting destination where families and tourists will enjoy the unique opportunity to interact with DreamWorks branded content within DubailandTM.”

This is excellent news for Middle-eastern Shrek fans, wouldn't you say?

Very surprising considering that DW is owned by people that most living in Dubai would like to see wiped from the face of the Earth. Surprising on both sides actually.

People in India should love The Bee Movie Experience, a ride in a honeycomb pod through Bee-ville, and then experience the true connection to nature as all the plants around them die just because of the actions of one bee and a lonely florist girl. The ride continues through a courthouse past a life-sized 3D animitronic wax model of Sting singing the blues. Riders can then talk to the bees where they can talk to Barry himself and convince him to set the world right again by lifting a 747 and doing something with it so that people can have flowers again!!! Riders to the attraction will get their own pollen packs and a seed kit to continue their flowering adventures at home.

Anon1: Wiped of the face of the earth?

We're talking about the United Arab Emirates. Arguably the most "western" country in that area of the world. Please keep ignorant and hostile remarks for yourself. Not every Middle Eastern country has issues with the US.

Anon2: India??

I'm sure the "Prince of Egypt" Attraction will be very popular.

Actually I've got five friend who are all from Lebanon and they are some of the kindest and most friendly people I know. They've gone out of their way time and time again for me and I hope to keep them as friends for as long as I can.

Did I mention I'm Jewish?

Mazel tov...now ask your friends what they think about Israel.

"Western or not they all, without a doubt, hate the Jewish people."

I'll accept that if you'll accept my statement that:

'All Americans, without a doubt, hate the Middle East.'

No? You don't like that statement. Then keep your sweeping generalizations of people to yourself or at your KKK meetings.

Thre was a time when arab leaders agreed to encourage jewish settlement in the middle east. That was in 1919 and the agreement was quickly undermined by western interference, but it shows such a detente is not impossible.
