Monday Studio Walkabout

Busy workday for me. Middling TAG blog news day for you.

I whipped through Nickelodeon in the A.M. and Cartoon Network in the P.M. And yeah, things are slow. But I found out that new production could be ramping up at both places in the next few months ...

A Nick management person mentioned they could have a new show starting through the pipeline shortly, and another a few months after that. (And I've got no specifics. This was mentioned to me in a hallway, in a sixty-second conversation.)

An artist at Cartoon Network said there will be a new show starting up there before too long. Again, no scintillating details and no official confirmation.

Teevee pickings are slim, but there are pickings. Hopefully in the near future there will be enough to support more under-employed artists.

And writers, Steve. Remember how the union you're the business guy for also includes writers? Yeah.

Noooo, that would be the WGA who leverages better contracts for writers, working WGA or otherwise. Animation is a pit stop on the way to live action. Leverage is the conspicuous missing ingredient banned from our bargaining agreement, which is 'baked' into the unchangeable history of labor jurisdiction.
